Behind the Strive design
Designed for fast races to ultra running, the Strive series is built around a close-to-body fit, stable carry and smart storage. We spoke to the Silva product team about the thinking, testing and design decisions behind the different Strive vests.

Meet the design team
We spoke to Mattias Sjöberg from the product development team behind the Strive running vest series. He shares insights into the design process, the differences between the models and what to consider when choosing a running vest.
What was the starting point for the Strive vests?
To create running vests that feel stable, lightweight and natural in motion. The goal was always a close-to-body fit that lets runners move freely without distraction.
What defines the Strive design philosophy?
Simplicity with purpose. Every panel, pocket and adjustment has a clear function. If something doesn’t improve comfort, stability or ease of use while running, we either remove it or refine it.
How do you decide which features stay or go?
Product development means leaving the desk and testing the product in real conditions. Prototypes of the vests are tested by the product team, colleagues at the office and Silva athletes who use them during training and races. Their feedback on fit, storage and functionality helps us refine the products over time.
How has runner feedback influenced the Strive vests?
Runner feedback has helped us fine-tune the vests over time. Small adjustments to pocket depth, elasticity and strap placement can make a big difference to fit, stability and comfort during long runs and races.
Vad skiljer Strive Fly från Strive 5 och 10 ur ett designperspektiv?
Strive Fly is designed for fast runs and races where low weight and minimal bounce are the highest priorities. With a smaller volume, details such as pocket placement, elasticity and weight distribution become even more important.
Strive 5 and Strive 10 are designed for longer runs and carrying more gear over time, so the focus shifts towards storage, stability and long-distance comfort. While all Strive vests share the same close-to-body fit and design philosophy, each model is adapted to different distances, speeds and storage needs.
What's your best Strive tip?
Living in Stockholm, I often plan my summer runs around a swim. My best tip is to pack a small towel in the rear mesh pocket so you can finish with a dip.
How do you know which vest is right for you, and what should you consider?
It mainly comes down to distance, pace and how much you want to carry. Strive Fly is designed for fast runs and races with minimal gear, while Strive 5 suits everyday training and runs up to a few hours. For long runs, ultra distances or run commuting with extra layers and equipment, Strive 10 offers more storage and long-distance comfort.
