Light can change quickly inside a canyon. Open sections may be bright, while high walls, overhangs and narrow passages can block much of the daylight. A headlamp keeps both hands available while providing light for footholds, rocks and the route ahead.

Separate dry gear from wet gear

Getting wet is part of canyoning, but not everything in the pack should be exposed in the same way. Spare layers, first-aid supplies and other selected items can be separated from wet equipment using Silva dry bags.

A phone, map and other smaller items can be kept together in waterproof cases. This gives smaller essentials their own protected space instead of leaving them loose among soaked equipment.
