CHOOSE THE RIGHT HEADLAMP FOR YOUR ACTIVITIES

HEADLIGHTS FOR EVERY ACTIVITY

Maybe you are completely hooked on night running or are you the one who cycles one day, paddles the next and camps the third? Either way, we have the perfect headlamp for your needs.

FREEDOM WITH THE MULTI-MOUNT

Silva's multi-lamps are made for flexible use and regardless of the model, you can attach them in different ways. For example, you can easily move the light from the headband and instead attach it to the bicycle handlebars, helmet or your running vest.

Thanks to the extension cable, you can keep the battery on the bike frame or in your pocket. When it's cold outside, you extend the battery life if you store it in a warm place.

THE BEST HEADLAMP FOR YOUR ACTIVITY

Many of our headlamps can be used with different sized batteries, this gives more flexibility to the use of the same lamp. If you both run and cycle in your everyday life, you can advantageously use the same headlamp, but switch batteries and accessories depending on the sport. Here, Silva's product manager Mattias Jacobsson and our community of athletes provide their favorite configurations, perfect balances between weight, light and burn time for different activities.

RUNNING

When you run, you want a light and pretty lamp. Running involves a lot of head movement and since the battery is often on the back of the head, you want as little as possible to disturb and weigh you down. Runs are often relatively short, which means you don't need a particularly large battery. If you want to run longer sessions, you can choose a slightly larger battery but keep it close to your body instead.

Silva’s pro tip:
“Free 1200 XS with 1200 lumen. This lightweight head torch has a great light output and a generous burn time, and is perfect for a trail running session at night. Trail Runner Free 2, with its hassle-free design, is an excellent choice for those who run in both forest and urban areas. As a backup light during races and training, we recommend the ultra-light Smini (250 lumens).”

Ultra runner Mimmi Kotka advises:
"Trail Runner Free 2 (550 lumens) is a great headlamp. Bring several batteries if you are going to run ambitious long runs or try ultra runni

BIKE

When you ride a bike, you don't have a battery on your head. Cycling is also not as bumpy, so you can store the battery on your body and preferably choose a larger battery than when running because you are often out longer.

Silva advises:
"On the bike, you can have a strong light on the handlebars, e.g. Free 3000 and possibly a weaker light on the head, e.g. Free 2000. Others want a strong light on the head to have the light where you look. Attach a 72 Wh or 36 Wh battery on the frame or close to the body when it's a little cooler. Buy a smaller battery for short runs in technical terrain with a lot of light"

The Ibis Cycles Race Team advises:
"Free 3000 L with a bike mount for the battery mounted on the handlebars. It really gives a lot of light and burning time that is enough for a long bike session."

Outdoor adventures and hiking

For outdoor adventures like climbing and hiking in all conditions, you need a durable and water-resistant headlamp that's easy to use even with gloves.

 Silva’s pro tip:
“Discover (500 lumens) has a dust-tight and water-resistant design that withstands tough conditions. If you want a waterproof headlamp with a stronger light, check out the Explore 5 (700 lumens). Both lamps feature light modes for night vision and map reading.”

HEADLAMPS FOR ADVENTURES & HIKING

Camping and everyday life

Let the headlamp be your companion on hikes and dog walks, and let it serve as an emergency light in the car and a light source at the campsite.

Silva’s pro tip:
“Scout is a great all-around headlamp for camping, hiking, dog walks, fetching firewood, and other everyday tasks.”

Ultra runner Emelie Forsberg’s pro tip:
”I’m so happy for the new Terra Scout with 300-350 lumen and the clever sustainable materials. I will use Terra Scout for easier trails, when I walk the dog in the dark and for gardening in the evenings.”

KAYAKING, FISHING, SUP AND WATER SPORTS

When you paddle, sail or fish, it is important to have a reliable companion in wet and dry conditions. We have developed headlamps that are easy to use, have a generous burning time and are easy to take with you.

Silva’s pro tip:
“The Explore 5 head torch (700 lumens) is just as popular on land as on water. This is the perfect headlamp for all watersports, including fishing, and it will also guide you on trails when you come ashore.”

Seglaren Erik Anderaa tipsar:
"Explore 5 (700 lumens) is a durable and fully waterproof headlamp, perfect for my solo sailing adventures. It features different light modes for preserving night vision and reading maps."

ORIENTEERING

When darkness falls, it's A and O with a headlamp that turns night into day and gives you more training hours, more dedication, higher speed and more adrenaline

Silva advises:
"The Free 3000 is our second most powerful headlamp, designed for night orienteering, skiing, mountain biking, summit touring and other high-speed activities in technical terrain."

Orientator Tove Alexandersson advises:
"It's really cool that Silva released the Ignite with 10,000 lumens. I use it for quick training sessions and racing at night where you really need the best light."

SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING

When it's cold outside and you're going downhill fast, it's good to keep the battery close to your body and bring a backup battery. If you're ski touring, it's beneficial to use less brightness on the way up and switch to a more powerful mode on the way down.

Silva’s pro tip:
“Skiing at high speeds requires a really strong light – choose between Free 3000 or Ignite. For ski touring, we recommend the powerful, yet compact Free 2000 M headlamp.”

Free rider Hedvig Wessel’s pro tip:
“Ignite is the obvious choice for me – a super powerful 10,000 lumens headlamp that truly turns night into day.”

Cross-country skiing

For roller skiing or cross-country skiing, 1200 lumens is perfectly sufficient. You can either carry the battery on your head or helmet or keep it warm in a pocket for extended burn time.

 Silva’s pro tip:
“The Free 1200 S is a lightweight lamp with 1200 lumens and good burn time. Choose the Free 1200 M with a long-distance battery for those extra-long sessions.”

The Swedish and Norwegian national ski teams’ pro tip:
“Follow the example of the Swedish and Norwegian ski teams by using the Free 1200 S (1200 lumens). For shorter sessions, use a small battery attached to the headband. It's a good idea to bring two batteries. One larger and one smaller as a backup in case your session lasts longer than expected."

MOTOR SPORTS

Adrenaline-filled activities such as scooters and enduro require a strong lamp that likes speed as much as you do.

Silva advises:
"Ignite is the most powerful headlamp that Silva has ever launched with a brightness of 10,000 lumens. Spectra has 8 strong LED lights and Silva Intelligent Light – a combination of focused distance light and wide light close to you. The lamp has 5 different light modes ranging from 80 to 10,000 lumens."
